There are millions of people who are sitting in front of their computer right now trying to figure out how can they get their music to reach masses and how do they make people become a fan to care about their music in the first place. Each individual is different and unique in their approach to grab the attention of their fans or paying customer. Here are some mistakes to avoid that will save you time and a lot of money.Mistake 5. Please have a clear and concise goal when you start. For example if your intentions are to build an Indie buzz and stay underground and the other people in your organization intentions are to sign to a major label then make sure you are on the same page when you start.
Mistake 4. Counting on friends and family to help for free. Years can be lost and time wasted learning the hard way that no one is going to help you get where you really want to go until you have a budget to pay them. When you don’t have some type of budget to pay people for their time it is real difficult to get things off the ground.
Mistake 3. Trying to reinvent the wheel. People are already programmed a certain way to the way the system is. Everyone says that want change but honestly we are creatures of habit we vote for the same types of people and we usually sit in the same seats at work or at school even when it’s not mandatory. Thinking to far out of the box where your target audience won’t get you or understand you can be deadly and cost you thousands of dollars.
Mistake 2. Before creating an album or a group from an executive aspect extensive research should have been done to see if there was enough people in that market to support the style of music that you are doing. If there aren’t enough customers to support you then it is best to find a market and a style where paying customers will support your art.
Mistake 1. Marketing a product is more important than the product itself. You can have the greatest product in the world but if no one knows that you exist then it doesn’t matter at all does it. 90 percent of the effort should be spent marketing the product and ten percent creating it.
